A Chicago Restaurant Guide, Pasta-Style
Welcome to your Barilla guide to Chicago’s pasta hot spots! If you’re coming to Chicago for the National Restaurant Show, you’re going to want to have your restaurant plans in hand. We’ve had our US HQ in Chicagoland since we first came to America, so this is our home turf. We handpicked a few places that do pasta right, and are a mix of Chicago icons, hidden gems and new hip spots.
Giordano’s – while the debate about the best deep dish in Chicago goes on, the pastas here at this classic brand – made with Barilla of course - are always on point. Multiple locations in the loop!
Italian Village – this is an amazing multi-generational family story come to life. The new generation has evolved the classic, old-school red sauce joint into a suite of restaurant and bar concepts that fit the modern era, all gathered at one convenient location on West Monroe.
Rose Mary– in the West Loop, this Croatian-Italian hot spot from Chef Joe Flamm might be hard to get a reservation for…pros know to eat at the bar for great service and the full menu. Don’t miss the housemade pastas – especially the radiatore cacio e pepe!
Osteria via Stato – our friends at Lettuce Entertain You have a Chicago icon on their hands here, bridging classic, authentic Italian cuisine with modern sensibility. The Pugliese-style orecchiette and short rib ragu are Barilla pastas worth the wait for a table, though reservations are the way to go.
Tortello – another handmade pasta spot, this adorable venue in the west town/wicker park neighborhood is well worth the side trip. Super authentic, with a rotating menu of fresh pastas in shapes you won’t often find. Their cacio e pepe meal kits were a pandemic lifeline that took off and now will never come off the menu!
