Spaghetti were born in Naples and it was Antonio Viviani in 1842 who gave them this name because they resembled small pieces of string. Originally they were a good 50 centimetres long but with time, for reasons of space, they were cut until they reached the length they are today which is 25 centimetres. Today Spaghetti N°5 Barilla are synonymous with Italy everywhere: no one can resist their elegant shape or the fascination of winding them around your fork. Thanks to their traditional diameter, intermediate in the long pasta universe, Spaghetti are highly versatile and allow an infinity of combinations: from the more traditional to the most unusual recipes, a plate of Spaghetti is always perfect whatever the occasion.
